Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine – Phase 3
Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine offers an opportunity for students to individualize their fourth year (Phase 3) experience based on their own professional and developmental needs and goals. Options for Phase 3 include dual degree programs (e.g. MBA), research or clinical immersion programs or entry into Residency. This residency entry option allows the student to enter a Hackensack Meridian Health residency program after three years at the SOM. We believe these Phase 3 options will provide an improved transition across the UME-GME continuum. The inaugural class began in July 2018.
All students will be eligible providing they have achieved their competencies, and meet professionalism and academic criteria
Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) residencies will make positions available to early entry students
Students will submit early priority requests for clerkship placements so that they have rotated in their chosen specialty prior to the application process
Students will submit essay(s) and interview in their chosen programs
Students will match through the NRMP
Key features of the curriculum include:
Integration of the biomedical, behavioral, social and health system sciences
Clinical relevance and community/social determinants of health emphasis
Interprofessional education
Emphasis on problem solving and lifelong learning
Competency based educational program
